Sealday vs Letterveil: Which Capsule Fits Your Routine?

Choose Sealday for letters with voice or video and the option to hide the opening date; choose Letterveil for saved drafts, reminders, backups, and replies to earlier letters. The deciding factor is how you will keep and revisit your capsules. Sealday is not affiliated with Letterveil.

Start with the phone you use

Sealday is available for Android through Google Play. Letterveil has Android and Apple App Store listings; its Apple listing includes iPhone and iPad. Check the store on your own device for compatibility and regional availability before planning a long-term routine. Both let you choose a future opening date and keep letters locally without creating an account. If you expect to switch between phones, start with the backup question below rather than choosing by the appearance of the envelope.

Match the app to the memories you save

Sealday lets you write a message, capture a photo, record video or audio, and import image, video, or audio files. You can continue with media alone, so a capsule can preserve your voice without a written letter. Letterveil’s Google Play listing describes letters with up to three photos. That suits a writing habit built around words and a few pictures. Its listings do not establish audio or video support; confirm those options in the app before choosing it for recordings.

Choose how you want to experience the wait

Sealday offers three reveal modes: Surprise hides the opening date on the sealed capsule, Hint gives an approximate time, and Exact shows the date and remaining days. You still choose the opening date before sealing. When the capsule is ready, you return to the app and break its seal in an opening animation. Sealday does not schedule opening-day notifications, so set a separate calendar reminder if you need one. Letterveil’s Google Play listing includes opening-day reminders and optional advance reminders. Choose according to whether you enjoy an occasional return or need a prompt to come back.

Allow for interrupted writing

Letterveil’s App Store description includes automatic draft saving and a preview before sealing. That is a useful advantage if you write over several sittings. Sealday does not save unfinished drafts for later sessions: backing out of the first creation step or restarting can lose your work. A change in Premium access while you are writing can also reset the draft. For a long Sealday letter, compose and keep a copy in a separate document, then paste it when you are ready to seal. Do not treat an unfinished capsule as a saved letter.

Compare the limits, not just the word free

Sealday’s free allowance is one active capsule at a time. A capsule remains active when its date arrives until you actually open it; opened memories do not use that slot. Premium is a monthly subscription for unlimited active capsules and the golden opening ritual. Letterveil’s App Store description offers ten lifetime seals free, followed by a one-time lifetime upgrade for unlimited sealing, with no subscription. Its allowance is a total sealing count, not a simultaneous-letter limit. Check current prices in the relevant store. Sealday can display trial wording and an enabled purchase button before offer details load; read the final Google Play purchase screen for the actual offer, trial eligibility, and renewal terms.

Separate date locking from personal privacy

A future opening date and protection from someone using your phone are different needs. Letterveil’s privacy policy describes app lock and Hidden Box access using biometrics or device credentials. It also distinguishes protection for its letter database from protection for attached photo files, so avoid assuming every stored item receives identical encryption. Sealday stores capsules on your device but does not provide an app passcode or biometric lock. Use your phone’s screen lock, and consider who can use the phone unlocked before saving sensitive material.

Make a plan for a replacement phone

Letterveil provides a manual encrypted backup, with no automatic cloud sync. Its privacy policy recommends making that backup before changing devices and warns that a forgotten backup password cannot be recovered. Sealday has no in-app backup export or restore tool. Android backup is allowed, but do not assume that setting guarantees your capsules will transfer. Keep separate copies of irreplaceable text and original media before sealing. If you need a file you can deliberately save and restore, Letterveil has the clearer option; check the restore process before retiring the old phone.

Decide what should happen after opening

Sealday keeps opened capsules in its Opened section, where you can reread the message and play its media. It has no reflection field or connected reply thread. Letterveil’s App Store description includes reflections and linked replies, plus a view comparing an opened letter with its opened reply. It also lists PDF and Markdown exports for opened letters. Those features matter if your routine is to revisit an earlier decision and answer it. Sealday fits a routine centered on returning to the original moment, with a new capsule started separately whenever you want another.

Try a small capsule before committing years of memories

Use a non-sensitive note for your first capsule and choose a nearby date. In Sealday, check that your attachments are present before sealing, choose the reveal mode deliberately, and arrange your own reminder. If you try Letterveil, check that a draft survives leaving the writing screen, enable the reminders you want, and make a backup you can locate afterward. Walk through opening and rereading before entrusting either app with your only copy of something important. The useful comparison is whether the whole routine fits your habits, including the parts you must manage yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Does Sealday’s padlock button lock the app?

No. The padlock on the home screen opens an explanation of local storage. It does not set a password or require biometric authentication. Use your device screen lock to control access to the phone.

Does restoring a purchase restore my capsules?

No. Sealday’s Restore purchases action checks Premium ownership; it does not recover letters or media. Letterveil also treats purchase restoration and letter backups as separate functions. Keep your content recovery plan separate from your store account.

Can I move letters directly between Sealday and Letterveil?

Do not assume their storage formats are interchangeable. Sealday has no capsule backup import tool. Keep original text and media separately, and check with Letterveil before relying on any import workflow.

Can I seal and open a Sealday capsule offline?

Yes. Writing, saving, and opening capsules use local storage and do not require a connection. Purchases and purchase restoration depend on access to Google Play.

What if Sealday stays on the memory loading screen?

A problem reading saved media can leave the memory loading screen without a retry message. Leave that screen and contact support@hugosoftware.net. Avoid clearing app storage or uninstalling while the app holds your only copy.

Is Letterveil still available?

Its Google Play and US App Store pages were available when checked on November 5, 2026. Confirm availability and device compatibility in your own store before downloading.

Seal a moment today, open it when the time comes. Sealday locks a note, photos, video or a voice message until the date you choose. Everything stays on your device — no account, no cloud. When the day arrives, the seal breaks in a small ritual and the memory comes back to you.
